The 209th General Assembly (1997) voted to instruct the Office of Theology and Worship to develop means to introduce The French Confession of 1559 throughout the church, referring to the 213th General Assembly (2001) that it consider constitutional procedures for including the French Confession of 1559 in The Book of Confessions.

In order to assist the church in becoming familiar with the French Confession of 1559, the Office of Theology and Worship is pleased to offer these two liturgical versions of the French Confession. The full text is unwieldy for services of worship, so the Theology and Worship staff have abridged the text into a manageable length. Both these texts are usable in worship with the short form being about 18 lines shorter. We would appreciate your feedback on these liturgical resources.
