Second Generation Asian American Leader Development
Many Asian-American PC(USA) congregations are facing a major challenge in ministering to their second-generation children, youth and young adults. These younger members, whose entire lives have been lived in the US and for whom English is their first language, have adopted many American traditions and values. While they desire to remain in the congregations that have nurtured them in faith, these younger Christians and the congregations of which they are members find it extremely difficult to provide the leadership to meet their mutual needs.
The crucial group from which leadership must emerge for ministry to these younger members is the current second generation. Conferences and training events are helping these persons discover their gifts for ministry and to respond to the call of God and of the church for professional and volunteer leadership. However, the need to redevelop and support second-generation Asian-American leaders far exceeds the funds available for this vital ministry.
Help support this ministry.
