Keep up to date about the exciting things happening with the Presbyterian Church (USA) Special Offerings. I will post news about how your dollars are used around the world, share promotion strategies for use in your local congregations, and link to general news and announcements. I look forward to engaging in conversation about best practices in mission and promotion throughout the denomination.
The video for use in the 2012 Peacemaking Offerings is now available. The video discusses the tradgedy of human/sex trafficking around the world, including our communities right here in the United States. Stories are shared as to how the Presbyterian Mission Agency (through the Peacemaking Program), mid-councils and local congregations are making an impact in combatting the problem. The video is available in two places at the moment - the Special Offerings website and on YouTube. It will also be distributed to all congregations for use during the Season of Peace, a joint effort of Special Offerings and the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program.
The Ecumenical Committee who coordinates the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering, of which the Presbyterian Mission Agency is a member, has recently released an iPhone application to spread news about the Offering and the ministries it supports.

You can also learn more about the Ecumenical One Great Hour of Sharing Committee on their website, http://onegreathourofsharing.org.
Offering receipts are currently up nearly 3 % over this time last year. These results are great and should be celebrated and are as a result of great impact, generous Presbyterians, and new tactics being used throughout the Church in promoting the Offerings.
Only a few tickets remain for what is set to be a highly-successful (and fun) fundraiser with the Pittsburgh Pirates. If you need plans for Monday night, we would love to have you join us! Tickets can be purchased in the Special Offerings booth at the GA 220 Exhibit Hall or can be purchased at the General Assembly registration desk.
The Ecumenical group, of which PCUSA is a member, responsible for the design of One Great Hour of Sharing is seeking writers for the 2013 design year. If interested, please see the detailed call for writers below.
One of the goals of this blog is to use it as a tool to provide greater transparency around Special Offerings and how your mission dollars are being used and supported. As we work together on achieving our new goal to increase annual revenue to $20 million by 2020 (up from about $13 million in 2011), I look forward to keeping you apprised on our financial progress monthly.
"When I used to think about volunteer work, I mostly focused on what I was going to accomplish. What I have learned so far in my experience as a YAV is that you will get much more from your communities than you imagine. I am blessed by both the staff and the students of the school and am a better person for having them touch my life. "
