Comings and Goings is a blog written by Theology, Worship and Education Director Charles B. "Chip" Hardwick as he travels throughout the church. God is on the move out and about in the world, working to redeem all things in Jesus Christ. As we join this mission, by the power of the Spirit we see God on the move. This blog contains glimpses of how Chip finds this to be true in his comings and goings.

I can’t preach well enough.
And neither can you, or your preacher.
Those are two thoughts that came through my mind when I read a recent column by the Presbyterian Outlook’s new editor/publisher Jill Duffield entitled “This is the Word of the Lord.” It’s a wonderful reflection about moving from the pastorate into other kinds of church work as Duffield has done recently (and I did about four years ago). She marvels about all of the work that has to go into the worship service and the preaching…and laments that sometimes the sermon falls short in its proclamation of the Gospel.
