About this blog

Brian Frick is the Associate for Camp and Conferences Ministries with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). He has been involved in camp and conference ministry since high school. For the past ten years, Brian has served as program director of Johnsonburg Center in New Jersey, Westminster Woods in California, and Heartland Center in Missouri.

Camp and conference ministry compliments and partners with other ministry aspects of our church to foster faith development and reflection. As our communities and our church changes, our ministries need to grow and adapt with creative and emergent programming and leadership to meet new realities.

These blogs entries, though varied, are intended to spur thought and conversation around the opportunities and challenges before us.

Hymn and Suggestion from Camp Supporters

Sun_clipart_4
I am so thankful for those who continue to support our ministry year after year.  It had a huge impact on their lives and their continued involvement needs to be lifted up. You all have long time supporters, I hope you take the time to personally thank them for their continued support of your ministry.

I received the following in an email today with a request to pass it on to you.  Rev. Carolyn and Bruce Gillette have been long time supporters of Johnsonburg in NJ (2 of their daughters are working there this summer!) and Bruce serves on the Stony Point Governing Board.  Carolyn shared a hymn last year ("O God, From Our Working You Called Us Away."  ) and wrote another one too share O God, the Great, Wide Seas are Yours  focusing on the oil spill catastrophe in the Gulf.

Another suggested resource to check out is natural ways to deal with Sun Burn.  Of course, differ to your nurse's recommendation, but these ideas are very interesting and might be helpful as you look for natural ways to implement at summer camp.  12 Natural Sunburn Cures

Blessings to all of you who are enjoying the smiles of summer campers and staff.  May your ministry continue to thrive as it positively transforms the lives of so many each year.
