Seeking peace. Striving for justice. Together.

Starting the 100 day countdown to the International Day of Peace, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on people around the world to consider how they can help build a ‘sustainable peace for a sustainable future.’ “If we are to build such a future, we must all play our individual part – I urge everyone, between now and 21 September, to think about how they can contribute,” Mr. Ban said in a message to mark the countdown. The UN General Assembly first established the International Day of Peace in 1982, eventually settling on 21 September as an annual day of non-violence and cease-fire, devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. The theme of this year’s observance is ‘Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future.’ Find stories with ideas for celebrating the International Day of Peace.
