A memorial service was held today at the First Presbyterian Church in Englewood, New Jersey, for the Rev. Robert F. Smylie, director emeritus of the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations. Bob, who served God and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) at the United Nations for almost 30 years, died on December 19, 2015. The Rev. W. Mark Koenig, director of the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations, had the privilege of speaking at the service. His remarks follow:

Thanks be to God for Bob Smylie's life

image of Bob SmylieWe give thanks for the life and witness, faith and service of the Rev. Robert F. Smylie, director emeritus of the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations.

Bob, who served God and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) at the United Nations for almost 30 years, died on December 19, 2015.

We pray for comfort and peace for his sons and his many friends and colleagues who grieve our loss.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 16 at the First Presbyterian Church of Englewood, 150 East Palisade Avenue, Englewood, NJ 07631

Bob Smylie named director emeritus of Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations

The Rev. Robert F. Smylie, who represented the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) at the United Nations for 27 years until his retirement in 2002, was named director emeritus of the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations today (Sept. 14) by the Presbyterian Mission Agency Board (formerly the General Assembly Mission Council).
