Neighbor and Neighborhood: A dialogue of the Sikh Coalition and the PC(USA)

The Sikh Coalition, Presbyterian Men in the Presbytery of New York City, the Church of the Covenant, Rutgers Presbyterian Church, West-Park Presbyterian Church, the Committee on Witness to Society and the World in the Presbytery of New York City, and the Presbyterian Mission Agency’s Office of Interfaith Relations and Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations joined in a unique partnership to offer three dialogue events over the weekend of February 1 and 2, marking World Interfaith Harmony Week. Mark Koenig, director of the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations offers an invitation to dialogues between the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the Sikh Coalition to mark World Interfaith Harmony Week. The dialogues are sponsored by the Sikh Coalition, the Presbyterian Church's Office of Interfaith Relations, the Committee on Witness to Society and the World of the Presbytery of New York City, Presbyterian Men in the Presbytery of New York City, the Church of the Covenant, Rutgers Presbyterian Church, West-Park Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations.

Keys: Shiphrah, Puah, Czechoslovakia, Nonviolence

A set of keysOn my way back from preaching at White Plains Presbyterian Church today, I met Andrew Stehlik, pastor of Rutgers Presbyterian Church on the Uptown Number 2 subway. We exchanged greetings and then began to talk shop.

 

As he described his sermon, Andrew reminded me that on the night of August 20-21, 1968, Warsaw Pact troops invaded Czechoslovakia shattering the hopes of the Prague Spring.
