October 24th is United Nations Day. This day marks the anniversary of the Charter of the UN that occurred in 1945.
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has long supported the work of the United Nations. The 220th General Assembly (2012) voted to "Affirm the church’s historic support for the United Nations as an instrument of peacemaking and peace building and a guarantor of the human and legal rights of people and nations."

On United Nations Day - October 24, 2012 - Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon challenges the peoples and nations of the world to "reaffirm our individual commitment and our collective resolve to live up to the ideals of the United Nations Charter and build a better world for all."
