Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship
By Bill Young
The PC(USA) has mission co-workers in some countries who are not able to be listed on the web or have their newsletters there due to security concerns. Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship (PFF) tends to connect to the work in those countries since they are usually places involving frontier mission. PFF has worked closely with World Mission staff over the years to help develop and promote Presbyterian mission in those areas.
Staff members Woody and Barbara Busse and Mike Robison travel regularly to the countries to stay in touch with what God is doing there and see how Presbyterians can be involved. This has been especially important since the World Mission office related to that area has been in transition for the last three years, however Mike Parker has just been appointed as the new coordinator for international evangelism. PFF staff also make a point of visiting with the co-workers (missionaries) to see how they are doing and to relate pastorally. With the transitions in the World Mission office, Presbyterians have been helped in maintaining relationships to the developing church and to co-workers.
Meanwhile for the last couple of years Mike has hosted several co-workers on interpretation assignment, setting up visits for them in various churches in his Virginia area and seeking to help develop support for them. This has led to increased interest in congregations, with several in one geographical area now supporting these workers. This means less travel for the co-workers to visit the churches, more cooperation among congregations around the work in those countries, closer ties to the work through Mike’s presence in Virginia, help for the Mission Connections staff in World Mission in scheduling visits for co-workers and more support for world mission co-workers. |
