The worksheets are most beneficial in beginning the call process
of a Christian educator. It is important to work through these
pages to bring a united call/position that will represent your
congregation. The time and effort spent will allow the ENC to
clearly present and interpret the needs and expectations of the
congregation to prospective educators.
These worksheets will enable the ENC to access, develop and construct
a call/position description in preparation for completing the
Church Information Form (CIF):
A. Preliminary
Expectations Worksheet —
This worksheet is designed to help ENC members begin to individually
think about and prioritize the kind of elements they want to include
in this call/position.
B. Working Relationships Worksheets
B-1. Committee’s Response
Worksheet —
B-2. Pastor(s)’ Response Worksheet
—
These exercises for the committee and pastor(s) encourage agreement
on educational priorities, appropriate working relationships among
educator, pastor, and session; and the role of the educator in
the educational ministry. These exercises will alert the committee
to differences so that the committee can resolve them, making
the interview time much more productive and effective.
E. Call/Position
Description —
This is a working call/position description that is created based
on decisions reached from the information gathered on previous
worksheets. The committee should be in agreement as to the key
elements essential to the call/position description. When a call
is extended, this call/position description should be finalized
in conversation with the educator.
F. Suggested
Compensation Guidelines —
This worksheet provides guidelines for compensation. Along with
a working call/position description, the total compensation package
should be written and approved by the ENC before it goes to the
session or governing board. The session or governing board should
read, understand, approve and have their official members sign
these two documents before extending a call.
H. Sample
Christian Educator Call Position —
Along with the information the committee compiles, use this sample
as a guide in developing your call/position description.
