Providing a certification course
To provide a certification course for the educators in your presbytery or region, follow these steps:
Determine the knowledge/skill area of educator certification the course will cover. Order the CD-ROM Light the Lamp: Educator Certification Course Guides (PDS#
7221204001).
- Seek out an instructor with particular gifts that match the course topic and provide them with a copy of the syllabi contained within the CD.
- Request that these instructors design the course with their own gifts in mind, using both the content and process suggestions contained in the course guide. A variety of assignments, teaching methods and opportunities for integration of theory and practice should be included.
- Send the resumé or curriculum vitae of the instructor AND the course syllabus to Martha Miller of the Office of Educator Certification for approval by the Educator Certification Council along with date and location of the course.
- When the Council approves instructor and course, the course will be listed on the certification website and course providers may promote the course.
- When the course is completed, send the list of students who have completed the course and a list of essential elements covered in the course to the Office of Educator Certification.
Contact the Office of Educator Certification at any point for questions or clarifications on this process. |
