New Church Development/Church Growth West Coast Office

In an effort to better connect with our ministry partners on the west coast we are seeking to establish a west coast presence for training, support and resources for new church developments and congregational transformation. This office would work with presbyteries and congregations to encourage and facilitate new church planting, develop regional opportunities for training and provide resources in the area of church development.

New Church Development/New Church Planting

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has faced declining numbers since the mid-1960s. In order to see the denomination grow and thrive we will begin to plant somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 churches per year. This fund will assist presbyteries and congregations in starting new churches.

Congregational Transformation/Pastor Training

The reality of our current church landscape is that we are a denomination of churches in need of transformative work. Pastors and sessions often feel underequipped to deal with the challenges of transforming a local congregation. This fund will help develop training opportunities in the area of congregational transformation and will provide scholarships for pastors who need training in congregational transformation.

Congregational Transformation/Coaches Program

A key factor in the success of a church to successfully engage in transformation is the presence of a trained coach to walk with a congregation actively pursuing a transformation of their ministry. This fund will help identify, train and deploy coaches for churches engaged in the transformation process.

Congregational Transformation/Church Assessment for New Beginnings

Through our partnership with the Disciples of Christ, we have started the "New Beginnings" program. "New Beginnings" provides assessment and consulting and helps congregations identify possible future choices for their ministry. This fund will help to identify, train and deploy "consultants" that will provide an accurate, honest assessment of a congregation's life, provide them with options for moving forward and make scholarships available for churches who would like to participate but may not have the funding to do so.
