“But you will receive power when the
Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in
all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
Communicators called to witness
As communicators
it’s our role to tell about where the church is present
in our world today. We have a bigger purpose than just to write a story,
or create a Web site, or post a blog. It’s our call to witness (with
our communication tools) to where Christ is alive, to where the church and God
are working in the world. We invite you to come and be renewed to
the spirit of Christ, connect with other church members serving in similar roles,
and learn new and better ways to communicate God’s presence in our lives.
You can avail yourself to this invitation by attending one
of two remaining regional conferences planned for 2008. We started the year off at Montreat Conference Center this past spring. Now we’re preparing for Illinois at the Stronghold Conference Center on August 25–27. Our final conference of the year will be in Oregon at the Menucha Retreat and Conference Center on October 29–31.
You will have the opportunity to learn how to communicate your ministries
and mission in the world of Web 2.0. We’ll discuss podcasting, effective
writing, online social networks, reaching the unchurched and other communication
topics. In addition we will ground ourselves each day in worship and take
time to dialogue with colleagues who serve the church in similar ways.
So
that “the least of these” may attend a conference the network
is offering five scholarships for each conference. Scholarships will be
based on need in combination with the participants' ideas on how the information
gained can be put to use in their communication ministry. Download
