“But you will receive power when the
Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in
all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
Communicators called to witness
As communicators, it’s our role to tell of the church’s presence in our world today. We have a bigger purpose than to just write a story, or create a Web site or post a blog. It’s our call to witness (with our communication tools) about where Christ is alive, and where the church and God are working in the world. We invite you to come and be renewed to the spirit of Christ, connect with other church members serving in similar roles, and learn new and better ways to communicate God’s presence in our lives.
Take advantage of this great network by attending our last remaining regional conference planned for 2008. We started the year off at Montreat Conference Center this past spring, and held a second regional conference at the Stronghold Conference Center on August 25-27.
Our final conference of the year will be in Oregon at the Menucha Retreat and Conference Center on October 29–31.
You will have the opportunity to learn how to communicate your ministries and mission in the world of Web 2.0. We’ll discuss podcasting, effective writing, online social networks, reaching the unchurched and other communication topics. In addition, we will ground ourselves each day in worship and take time to talk with colleagues who serve the church in similar ways.
So that “the least of these” may attend a conference, the network is offering five scholarships for each conference. Scholarships will be based on need in combination with the participants' ideas on how the information gained can be put to use in their communication ministry.
