Committee on Representation

The General Assembly Committee on Representation (GACOR) is one of the permanent committees of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

Its function is to guide governing bodies toward implementing principles of participation and inclusiveness to ensure effective participation in decision making in the church.

“The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) shall give full expression to the rich diversity within its membership and shall provide means which will assure a greater inclusiveness leading to wholeness in its emerging life” (Book of Order, G-4.0403).

The Constitution further mandates that “each governing body above the session shall elect a committee on representation…to ensure fair and effective representation” (Book of Order, G-9.0105a, b). The GACOR works to provide guidance and resources to these committees on representation in the denomination’s governing bodies.
