United Nations Environmental
Programme
This is the UN Environmental Programme's main web page for general
environmental information. For actions and articles about endangered
species, use the web site's internal search engine. The UNEP's
mission is: To provide leadership and encourage partnership
in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling
nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without
compromising that of future generations
.
Web of Creation
The Web of Creation was established to: Facilitate the movement
for personal and social transformation to a just and sustainable
world---from religious perspectives. It is maintained by the
Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and is supported through
grant funding, sponsorship and endorsement from a variety of
faith-based sources. Basic
concepts about biodiversity can be found at the Web of Creation.
FOR ACTION STEPS
Presbyterian
Policy
This policy about biodiversity and mass extinction, passed at
General Assembly in 2001, includes many suggested action items
for individuals, congregations, our nation, and our world.
Endangered Species Coalition
The Endangered Species Coalition (ESC) speaks on endangered
species issues for over 440 environmental, conservation, religious,
scientific, humane, sporting and business groups around the
country. Through extensive grassroots work, education, discussions
with lawmakers, and the dissemination of information, ESC works
to ensure that the Endangered Species Act and the species it
protects, can be passed on safely into the future.
Presbyterians for Restoring
Creation
PRC is an environmental faith community in the Presbyterian
Church (USA), supporting the 1990 GA Policy Statement "Restoring
Creation for Ecology & Justice" and other PCUSA environmental
policies. PRC is dedicated to environmental wholeness with social
justice, seeking to be a prophetic voice for substantive change
in the church and in the world.
