Celebrate World Environment Day

The United Nations has celebrated World Environment Day on June 5 since 1972 to raise understanding of environmental issues and to empower people to act on behalf of a sustainable future. We encourage your church to celebrate World Environment Day on June 7 to encourage care for God’s creation. This year’s theme is “Your Planet Needs You – UNite to Combat Climate Change.”
Use the resources by the National Council of Churches to plan a service for World Environment Day. It includes sermon starters, youth activities, a group study guide and a bulletin insert.
For more information how climate change and the faith community download the National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Program’s study on Climate and Church: How Climate Change Will Impact Core Church Ministries.
