Proclaiming the Good News of Jesus
Christ Throughout the World
Through its International Evangelism
ministry the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) seeks to work with
congregations, organizations, individuals, and overseas partners
in proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ throughout the
world.
Through International
Evangelism, Presbyterians are:
- Seeking to spread the good news.
- Responding to areas of the world that are experiencing rapid
growth and supporting the growth of existing ministry partnerships
around the world.
- Providing Scripture through Bible translation.
- Initiating evangelism among unreached people groups.
- Working with congregations for involvement
in our ministry.
- Working with Validated Mission Support
Groups
The following meaning of "evangelism"
was adopted by the 201st General Assembly (1989): "Evangelism
is joyfully sharing the good news of the sovereign love of God
and calling all people to repentance, to personal faith in Jesus
Christ as Savior and Lord, to active membership in the church,
and to obedient service in the world" (Minutes, 1989, Part
I, p. 359).
Through modern technology, the world has become a Global Village. However, many people still have not heard the Gospel and a significant number of ethnic groups still do not have a self-sustaining Christian church. PC(USA) partners around the world continue to ask us to join in their evangelism and church development efforts.

"Go therefore and make disciples
of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that
I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20) [NRSV] |
