Like a Seed
A Community-Based, Online Lenten Series
This lectionary series uses the farmworkers’ agricultural background to help us walk together as we discover in God's Word the path of the life, freedom and justice that Jesus followed, which finally brought him to the cross. The series will continue through Lent and culminate with the readings from Easter Sunday where we will explore how the seed that God has planted is giving life and hope.
We invite you to read the passages, think about the questions and then return each week to this Web site where a summary of the farmworkers’ insights and questions will be posted. If you wish to share your thoughts with the farmworkers, you may do so by sending an email that we will forward to them.
“Like A Seed” has been prepared by the Rev. Miguel Fernando Estrada Salvador, the pastor of Misión Peniel in Immokalee, Fla. Misión Peniel is a Reformed spiritual community with farmworkers and is supported by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The farmworkers who participate in this community come from reformed churches in Guatemala and Mexico or have been drawn to the witness of the Presbyterian Church through our work in Immokalee. |
