| Brandon W. Johns
is a Pima Indian of the Gila River Indian Community. He resides
in Blackwater, Arizona, that is on the east end of the reservation.
With the scholarship he received from the Office of Financial
Aid for Studies, Brandon was able to study subjects such as
Old Testament, New Testament, Preaching, Apologetics, Vacation
Bible School, Theology, Church Finance, Church History, Life
of Christ, Pentateuch Narrative, and Christian Education at
Cook College and Theological School in Tempe, Arizona. Brandon
also has hands on experience in ministry, knowledge such as
Pulpit Ministry, Chapel Liturgist, and Vacation Bible School.
Brandon is currently heeding the ministry call by serving
at the Lehi Presbyterian Church on the Salt River Indian Reservation
by serving as a Lay Pastor and will also be serving as intern
Lay Pastor during the summer months. Currently Brandon is preparing
to graduate from the Lay Leadership Program offered at Cook
College and Theological School, and, in the fall, he will return
to study for his Associates of Arts degree in Christian Ministry.
Brandon’s future goals consist of becoming a Lay Pastor,
Commissioned Lay Pastor, and an ordained minister, through the
scholarship provided by the Office of Financial Aid for Studies.
He feels that with God and prayer his goals for himself and
his communities will be accomplished through Christ.
Brandon would like to thank the Scholarship Committee for their
full support during the 2004-2005 academic year and looks forward
to continued support during the 2005-2006 year.
