Accommodations

Hotels & Reservations

Special rates for the assembly have been arranged with ten hotels in Richmond. All registered participants will have the advantage of these rates, including observers and those attending only part of the assembly.

The PC(USA) has a contractual obligation to fill a certain number of rooms in the ten official hotels in exchange for the discounted rates and other concessions. All assembly participants needing accommodations in Richmond are urged to use these hotels and the services of the GA Meeting Service.

Room rental charges at other hotels and facilities will not be reimbursed for commissioners, advisory delegates, and others whose assembly accommodation costs are paid directly by the Office of the General Assembly.

For a room in one of the assembly hotels, register online, or return your completed registration form PDF Icon to the GA Meeting Service. Please do not call the hotel for a reservation.

The assembly guarantees all reservations made through the GA Meeting Service, so that participants need not pay a deposit to the hotel to secure their room.

The OGA contracted with a Richmond-based organization to review the EEO-related policies and practices of the assembly hotels. The Quality Inn declined to provide the requested documentation, but has attested that it is in compliance. The other assembly hotels were each validated as being in compliance.

Roommates

The GA Meeting Service provides roommate-matching assistance for commissioners and advisory delegates. Other participants who want to share rooms are responsible for making their own arrangements. When two registered participants arrange to share a room, each much submit a separate registration form PDF Icon. The reservation is not made until both forms have been received.

Assignment and Confirmation

Housing requests are processed in the order they are received. When completing your form, rank ALL the hotels in order of preference. Be sure to indicate on the form any factors pertinent to your housing assignment.

Commissioners and some other official participants will have priority for assignment to the closer hotels, but should register as early as possible.

You will receive an assignment notice from the GA Meeting Service within four weeks of receipt of your form.

Other Housing

Observers who choose not to take advantage of the special assembly housing rates may make their own arrangements elsewhere. Information on other types of accommodations in the Richmond area is available at the Web site of the Committee on Local Arrangements of the Presbytery of the James.

Those who make their own housing arrangements are responsible for arranging their own ground transportation.

Hotel Transportation

Assembly shuttle service will operate between the convention center and all of the assembly hotels except the Marriott and the John Marshall Hotel (the two closest). Service will be frequent in the morning and evening, and at least hourly during off-peak hours.

Those who have difficulty walking long distances should note that the hotels with door-to-door shuttle service to the convention center may be more suitable.
