13-book PPC package explores 'What It Means to Be Presbyterian'

by Vicki Fogel Mykles

RICHMOND, June 29 - A batch of 13 books explaining "What It Means to Be Presbyterian" - a resource for pastors, Christian educators, congregational leaders and others called upon to teach the basics of Presbyterianism - has made its debut during the 216th General Assembly.

The Presbyterian Publishing Corporation put together the package of books on denominational theology and doctrine at the suggestion of a board member who thought it would be useful to have "a box of leadership training materials" about Presbyterianism.

The books include the classic - A Brief History of Presbyterians; and the recent - Calvin for Armchair Theologians. The package also includes instructions, a sign for table display, and the PPC's latest adult studies resource catalogue.

Vince Patton, the corporation's church-relations and product manager, said many of the books include study questions for adult-education classes, and other support materials will be made available online.

These materials are suitable for church and resource center libraries and for use in new-member, confirmation and church-officer training classes. They also can be put to use in fund-raising, and they make great gifts. The cost of the package is $74.95, less than half of the full retail value of $162.35.

To place an order, stop by the PPC booth in the exhibit hall, or call (800) 227-2872. After Aug. 1, orders may be placed online at www.ppcpub.com.
