RICHMOND, July 1 - The 216th General Assembly paused for a moment Wednesday to recognize and thank the presbyteries that in 2003 gave the most unrestricted funds - officially termed "basic mission support" - to General Assembly mission.

"Basic mission support allows us to put the church's dollars where they're needed most," said Vernon Carroll, chair of the General Assembly Council (GAC). "Tonight we're celebrating those presbyteries that have given extraordinary support to the church through basic mission support."
