| Reports to the General Assembly
Reports and recommendations from assembly
agencies, overtures from presbyteries and synods, and communications
from agencies and other sources make up the business that will
be before the assembly. These, along with the Manual of the
General Assembly and other resources are published during the
months before the assembly and made available online.
RGAs will be available in two formats: electronic and print.
Commissioners, advisory delegates and other participants interested
in these materials will choose between
the following two options.
If you choose to use the E-reports
Before GA: You will need a computer with Internet
access to read the reports online.
They are posted on the Web in Acrobat (PDF) format before they
are available in print, and can be printed or downloaded. (There
will be a link to download Acrobat at no charge if you do not
already have it installed.)
You will NOT receive the printed RGAs.
At GA: You will need to bring a laptop computer
equipped with a CD-ROM drive and either a modem or network card.
You will receive a CD-ROM containing all the advance reports
at the beginning of the assembly. You will use your laptop to
access these reports and to download the committee reports and
other materials prepared at the assembly.
Phone lines and network connections will be
available in the E-report area in the convention center for
downloading the updates. Though some technical support will
be available, you should be familiar with the laptop you will
be using. If you use a dial-up service (AOL, MSN, etc.), be
sure that it is installed on your laptop and that you know how
to access it using a toll-free number or an access number with
a Richmond area code.
Fee: There is a $10 fee for the CD-ROM and
other technical support. This is waived for commissioners, advisory
delegates, corresponding members, and executives and stated
clerks of presbyteries and synods.
If you have questions about using the E-reports,
contact Alisha
Wheatley.
If you choose to use the Paper Reports:
Before GA: You will receive the printed versions
of the RGAs by mail in three or more volumes during the months
preceding the assembly. The first mailing will include a set
of tabs to help you organize these reports in the correct sequence
as they arrive, but you will need to provide your own 3-ring
binder (4-inch or larger).
At GA: You will bring your RGA notebook to
Richmond. Printed copies of committee reports and other materials
produced on site will be distributed at the convention center.
Some participants advise bringing a separate smaller binder
to organize the committee reports on site.
Fee: There is a $40 fee to cover printing
and postage. This is waived for commissioners, advisory delegates,
corresponding members, and executives and stated clerks of presbyteries
and synods.
Please carefully consider which option is
best for you. Designate either E-reports or Paper Reports on
your registration form if you are a commissioner or advisory
delegate or you are ordering the materials. We encourage anyone
who has Internet access and a laptop to help conserve paper
and postage costs by reading these materials online.
