Per-capita apportionments established for '07 and '08

BIRMINGHAM, June 22 — In its closing plenary session, the Assembly approved a final version of the per-capita budgets for 2007 and 2008. The Assembly also approved the per-capita apportionment at $5.79 for each year.

The reason for the increase in the apportionment from $5.57 for 2006 to $5.79 is because of the membership decline in the denomination.

The budgets for 2007 and 2008 are set for $12,662,583 and $15,061,674, respectively. When asked about the increase from 2007 to 2008, the moderator of the committee, elder Vince Thomas of Twin Cities Presbytery, responded that the increase in 2008 is due to General Assembly being held in that year.

During discussions, the Assembly amended the budget recommendation to send "all reports from the Assembly electronically." The amendment passed.
