Semper Reformanda Pre-GA Conversation $15.00 (First Presbyterian Church, 2100 4th Avenue North - about 5 blocks from the Convention Center).
Speaker: Dr. Mark Taylor, Professor of Theology and Culture, Princeton Theological Seminary. This conversation will look at the United States as empire, to be addressed in Dr. Taylor’s remarks and in looking at the document, “Covenanting for Justice in the Economy and the Earth,” adopted by the World Alliance of Reformed Churches in Accra, Ghana in 2004.

YADs should plan to arrive in Birmingham in time for this important orientation led by YAD Advisors.

Covenant Network Moderator’s Commissioners Reception (Sheraton Hotel)
Former GA Moderators and Covenant Network board members welcome commissioners and others for conversation and refreshments. 2006 General Assembly Moderatorial candidates have been invited to attend.

6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Covenant Network Commissioners’ Convocation Dinner $34.00 (Sheraton Hotel)
Susan Andrews, Moderator of the 215th General Assembly and pastor of Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church, Bethesda, Maryland holds up our vision for the church and our hopes for this General Assembly in her address entitled “The Purity of Unity.” An opportunity for commissioners, advisory delegates and observers to think together about how to make a difference in the coming week.

Presbyterians For Renewal Pre-Assembly Reception (Sheraton Hotel)
Commissioners and visitors are invited to a time of fellowship with Presbyterians for Renewal. Candidates for Moderator of the General Assembly have been invited to address and interact with this gathering. Light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.

Witherspoon Society Issues Briefing $15.00 (Sheraton Hotel)
Speaker: Dr. Eugene TeSelle, Witherspoon Society Issues Analyst, and Friends. This regular Witherspoon Society event for commissioners and others provides a progressive look at the Assembly and the issues, ideas on how to be an effective participant, and a chance to meet other progressives.
