Troubleshooting Guide

I am trying to connect but I don't see anything.
If your computer meets the minimum specifications below and you do not see the video stream, first check the docket or schedule. You may be tuning in at a time when we are not broadcasting. Only plenary events are streamed and all times listed are Central Daylight Time. Report any problems through our feedback page.

What are the minimum computer specifications required to watch live streaming video?
These MINIMUM machine specifications are from the respective manufacturers, but they do not guarantee a satisfactory viewing experience. Broadband Internet connection, faster processors, more RAM and current operating systems are recommended for optimum viewing.

  Windows
  • Windows Media Player v. 9 (or higher)
  • Microsoft Windows: 98 SE, 2000, Millennium Edition, XP Home Edition or XP Professional
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, Netscape Navigator 7, Firefox 1 or Opera 7.51
  • 233 MHz Intel Pentium II or AMD processor
  • 64 megabites (MB) RAM
  • 100 megabites (MB) free hard disk space
  • 16-bit sound card
  • Speakers/Headphones

  Macintosh
  • QuickTime v. 7.1 (or higher)
  • Mac OS X v 10.3.9 or later
  • Safari 1.2, Firefox 1 or Opera 7.51
  • 400 MHz Power PC G3 or faster

My popup blocker won't let me watch live streaming. How can I fix that?
Pop-up blockers may prevent the video player from opening. Setting your pop-up blocker to allow pop-ups will fix this problem. Please see your pop-up blocker's help section for more information. Many popup blockers can be modified via a "settings," "options," or "block/allow" button.

Why does the live streaming sometimes stop or pause?
The most common cause of a pause or stop is Internet traffic congestion. If this problem persists, try closing the player, then re-launch it.

What about firewalls?
Some corporate networks and Internet Service Providers block video transmissions. If you cannot see live streaming (even though your system meets the system requirements noted above), you may want to contact your Internet Service Provider or Network Administrator to see whether a security firewall is blocking video transmission.

Can I download and save video clips from the live streaming?
No. Live streaming is just that — live. You are viewing the events as they are being broadcast in the plenary hall.

I can open the player, but cannot see any video.
A browser error may have occurred. Try closing the player, then reopen it. Your Internet Service Provider may be experiencing problems with their servers. If you cannot view other pages, and if the problem persists, you should contact your Internet Service Provider. If you can access the player on another machine or other people can view it, it may be a problem with your browser cache.
