Micah’s call rings across the Internet
SAN JOSE, June 20, 2008 — One can still hear Micah, the great Old Testament prophet, rumbling God’s command to "do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8).
Now, at the 218th General Assembly, Micah’s call is spreading across the Internet through a Web site allowing a community of people – started locally and growing nationally and internationally — to meet and exchange ideas for doing God’s bidding.
The theme of the 218th General Assembly meets on the Internet at MicahsCall™ (registered as MicahsCall.org), started by members of the First Presbyterian Church of Palo Alto, Calif. The goal was to heed the first-century prophet Micah’s call and allow people to congregate online to "do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God."
There are local postings in Palo Alto and Silicon Valley, Calif. Everyone is invited to post during their time at the Assembly — or to go home and start a new MicahsCall™ community with the posting of a single message.
Here’s how MicahsCall™ works: Someone wanting to add a prayer, begin a discussion, or call for an action goes online to http://www.micahscall.org. The home page provides information for signing up, which is free.
From there it is easy to post in any of the major areas – discussions, actions, prayers, events.
MicahsCall™ will have a booth at the Assembly, staffed by representatives who will show anyone interested how to start posting to MicahsCall.org, so that Micah’s message can be spread across the country.
