Stated Clerk Nomination Committee Timeline

Based on Standing Rule H.2.b, the Stated Clerk Nomination Committee (SCNC) has established the following timeline for its work:

2007

May 21-23 SCNC planning meeting, more than 300 days before the 218th General Assembly convenes (Standing Rule H.2.b(3)(e))

Summer Announcement and advertisement of position with timeline (application forms available from Carol McDonald, Synod of Lincoln Trails, 1100 W. 42 nd St., Room 125, Indianapolis, IN 46208; email)

Sept. 23 - Dec. 23 Application period

(Applications to be submitted to Carol McDonald, Synod of Lincoln Trails, 1100 W. 42 nd St., Room 125, Indianapolis, IN 46208; email)

Dec. 23 Application deadline – 180 days prior to the opening of the 218th General Assembly (SR H.2.b(3)(g)

2008

January Stated Clerk Nominating Committee (SCNC) meets to review applications

March SCNC meets to interview candidates

April 3 The Rev. Gradye Parsons selected by the SCNC as its nominee for Stated Clerk

May 7 Deadline for other persons who have submitted applications by Dec. 23, 2007, to declare to the SCNC that they intend to also be nominated at the General Assembly – 45 days prior to the opening of the 218th General Assembly (SR H.2.b(3)(k))

June 21-28 218th General Assembly, San Jose, Calif.

Sunday, June 22, 2008, 5:00 p.m. – name(s) placed in nomination (immediate election if the SCNC candidate is the only nomination);

Friday, June 27, 2008, morning – election if more than one nominee
