The Cincinnati site of the Young Adult Volunteer Program places 19-30 year-olds at member congregations of the presbytery's Council of Urban Churches. YAVs serve as youth directors at low-income, urban churches for one year, being a Christian presence in the community and a leader in the church. Volunteers build relationships with youth in the congregation and the surrounding community, developing programs for those already active with the goal of meeting the needs of the church.YAVs each serve at a different church, but live together in intentional Christian community in a house or apartment near one of those congregations. They engage in spiritual development, including Bible study, group prayer and other activities. Volunteers are provided with a monthly stipend to cover food and living costs, as well as transportation. Housing is paid for by the Council |
