Luebo Hospital
Luebo, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Luebo is the historic original location of Presbyterian work in the Congo and was, for many years, the major center of work. The original "first" hospital in the Kasai built by Dr. Stixrud in 1916, is still in use as part of the hospital plant.
Dr. Kasonga Mbuyi has been the resident physician since 1980. He sees approximately fifty patients in the outpatient department daily and averages 150 operations each year.
The hospital has electricity and a good sterilizer. There is no X-ray and no running water. It receives Sewing for Mission supplies and drugs from the Central Pharmacy.
Luebo Hospital is operated as part of the health ministries of the Communaute Presbyterienne au Congo.
