![]() Witnessing to the Promise: As the year of twentieth-anniversary celebrations begins, I can see that Presbyterian Women (PW) is living out the meaning of our Purpose. Because of us, women throughout our denomination are witnessing to the promise of God’s realm through their active support of mission and ministry. Presbyterian Women’s groups flourish in almost every synod and presbytery and in most congregations. We are in covenant relationship with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and represented on the General Assembly Council by the PW moderator. With 20 years behind us, we are still an autonomous organization with our own leadership, program budget and staff; we are also a part of a new General Assembly program unit, Racial Ethnic and Women’s Ministries/ Presbyterian Women. Our membership includes all the women in congregations who choose to participate in or support our programs. We come together in congregations, presbyteries, synods and Churchwide Gatherings to celebrate our faith and to support mission at home and around the world. We also offer leadership training and enrichment; we build awareness of current and emerging justice and peace issues and we are a visible reflection of the inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens congregations, communities and our entire denomination. How are Presbyterian Women living out the meaning of the PW Purpose? Find out by reading the full text of this article in the January/February issue of Horizons.
