About This Issue As our denomination prepares for a General Assembly and our country prepares for a presidential election, discussions about faith and politics seem to be everywhere. Horizons found many writers and artists who were eager to contribute to these discussions. Their thoughtful reflections look at faith and political engagement as two sides of one coin—ways to bring healing and wholeness to our country and the world. They remind us that we are each called (in the words of the PW Purpose) "to build an inclusive, caring community" that "witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom."
Horizons is the magazine of Presbyterian Women. It is planned and designed for individuals and PW circles, newcomers and longtime participants in the organization. You'll notice resources are scattered throughout the magazine—in sidebars, boxes and sometimes entire articles—because Presbyterian Women is made up of leaders, both current leaders and women with leadership potential. Participants in Presbyterian Women are also active—in their congregation, community and world—so we work to include ways you can respond to what you read in Horizons. Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves:
