Fundamental to our faith is the belief that all people are created in the image of God. As we look around us, we recognize that God has created each of us in unique and magnificent ways. This issue inspires us to delight in the diversity and multicultural nature of our world. Like the church at Pentecost, we are empowered to embrace our differences and search for faithful ways to walk together. The youth (ages 6–14) from Rockford, Illinois, who created the quilt shown on the cover considered the themes of diversity and unity. After visits from various leaders and members of their community, the youth created this quilt to embody their shared, colorful vision of peace.

You'll notice resources are scattered throughout the magazine—in sidebars, boxes and sometimes entire articles—because Presbyterian Women is made up of leaders, both current leaders and women with leadership potential. Participants in Presbyterian Women are also active—in their congregation, community and world—so we work to include ways you can respond to what you read in Horizons. Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves:
