• Learn about hunger on the Silent Killer Film web site and purchase the film to show at your congregation

Take action by exercising your citizenship

Be an advocate for hungry people by...

• writing your senator today asking for support for the Energy Security through Transparency (ESTT) Act, which will fight corruption in the oil, gas and mining industries and help end poverty.
• sending postcards to the CEO of your neighborhood grocery store asking for payment of fair wages to their tomato pickers. Companies are very alert to what their consumer base communicates to them. Your witness matters.
• joining Bread for the World, the Christian citizens' organization lobbying for government policies that address the needs of poor and hungry people
• supporting your state or local anti-hunger coalition
• writing your members of Congress and state legislators and letting them know about your concern for hungry people
• supporting legislative efforts that address the needs of hungry people and provide opportunities for low-income people to help themselves
• Join the One Campaign to make poverty history
• Let Justice Roll - A living wage campaign of more than fifty faith-based and community-based organizations.

Take action by changing your lifestyle

Find ways to live more simply, sharing God's good gifts with others by...

• thinking outside the bottle. Curb plastic bottled water consumption, support community water rights and protect water against privatization.
• supporting your local food economy. Prepare your own meal tonight with ingredients you buy at a farmers market.
• adopting a supermarket with your congregation to make where you shop a fair trade hot spot
• eating more simply and consuming less meat
• protecting the environment and buying foods grown using more sustainable agricultural techniques
• volunteering in programs that provide food and skills for self-development
• supporting alternative trade organizations that provide a fair income for cooperatives of low-income people around the world
• looking for products that are environmentally friendly
• avoiding products that are produced in sweat shop conditions
• planning a simpler observance of the holidays, using resources from Alternatives for Simple Living
• involving your congregation in Enough for Everyone.
