Open Source
The Hunger Program's Open Source has educational presentations on climate change, biofuels and hunger which you can view, download, modify and/or present in your congregation. Educate yourself and your congregation about this critical issue!
Electric Stewardship
Part of PC(USA)'s Enough for Everyone, Electric Stewardship is a project of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in which congregations care for God's creation through energy conservation and energy efficiency. The 1990 General Assembly calls on the church in its own life to teach, exemplify, and advocate for energy efficiency. There are many ways to take care of God's creation; saving electricity is a good first step.
Presbyterians for Restoring Creation
Presbyterians for Restoring Creation, a nationwide network 'Caring for God's Creation by Connecting, Equipping, and Inspiring,' has made action on climate change a top priority. Learn more about PRC from their web site and and get involved! Contact Presbyterians for Restoring Creation.
NativeEnergy
The Presbyterian Hunger Program and Presbyterians for Restoring Creation chose NativeEnergy to purchase its carbon offets for the 2006 PC(USA) General Assembly. NativeEnergy is a privately held Native American energy company. In August 2005, the Intertribal Council On Utility Policy (COUP) acquired a majority ownership interest in NativeEnergy on behalf of its member tribes, marking another significant step in the Great Plains tribes’ historic effort to power America with Native wind.
Global Change at the National Academies
The National Academies carry out a wide range of activities on issues related to global-scale changes in climate, land use and land cover, oceans and freshwater resources, atmospheric chemistry, and ecological systems resulting from natural variability or human influences, and the potential impacts of these changes on human systems and ecosystems. See the National Academies Global Change Web site.
Alliance to Save Energy
Founded in 1977, the Alliance to Save Energy is a non-profit coalition of business, government, environmental and consumer leaders. The Alliance to Save Energy supports energy efficiency as a cost-effective energy resource under existing market conditions and advocates energy-efficiency policies that minimize costs to society and individual consumers, and that lessen greenhouse gas emissions and their impact on the global climate. |
