Fifty years ago, Arthur and Phoebe Pack gave the magnificent gift of Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu to the Presbyterian Church. This unique and spectacularly beautiful high desert area of 21,000 acres in north central New Mexico has attracted guests from all over the world year after year. |

While Georgia O’Keeffe made the scenery famous with her paintings, the program of the ranch in Abiquiu has been committed to issues of spirituality, peace and justice, and the environment, as well as the arts. It has served as a learning community, a magnet for important artists like O’Keeffe and Ansel Adams, and as a camp and retreat area for play, relaxation, learning, and spiritual development. These commitments, coupled with a strong focus on being an inclusive community that welcomes people of all denominational affiliations and other faiths and celebrates the diversity around us, have been the foundation on which Ghost Ranch built its ministry. |

In 1990 Ghost Ranch extended its mission to the city of Santa Fe by purchasing a Board of Pensions facility on the site of a historic Presbyterian mission school. This urban campus is located in the heart of the ancient city, only three blocks from the historic plaza. With the addition of the second campus, Ghost Ranch began to program and partner in ways to address its mission and priorities uniquely in an urban setting.
2005 is a special year at Ghost Ranch, and people from across the nation and the world are invited to join our celebration. For details of the various celebration events, click on the anniversary logo on the Ghost Ranch home page.
The museums at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu are considered among the finest in their categories in the areas of anthropology and paleontology. They also celebrate their twenty-fifth anniversary in the context of this year of celebrations. Paleontologists with international reputations have been attracted to the ranch since Dr. Edwin Colbert’s discovery of the Coelophysis quarry in 1947. In addition, every year thousands of school children and adult visitors come to see New Mexico’s State Fossil and the exceptional anthropology collection. |

Each site, Abiquiu and Santa Fe, has a unique history. However, they share a common commitment to hospitality and community outreach. Both have been significant partners within their extended communities and are addressing the many needs in both the rural and urban locations. Mission groups from across the country can find assistance in identifying meaningful service opportunities throughout this region with the assistance of our staff and the Presbytery of Santa Fe. |

Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu offers an exceptional and diverse schedule of programming for youth and adults of all ages—through courses in the arts with a spiritual focus that are taught by outstanding artists from the local pueblos and communities and from across the country, and experiences in outdoor educational activities with which a full-time staff helps groups plan experiences that meet their individual needs and goals.
Ghost Ranch has found a special place in the hearts and lives of thousands over these past fifty years. Our library compliments our program and is a significant resource for children, youth, and adults. It contains over 16,000 volumes, including the Southwest collection with extensive materials on artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Ansel Adams, and other noted painters, photographers, and craftspeople who have lived and worked in New Mexico—many with ties to Ghost Ranch.

For fifteen years, Ghost Ranch in Santa Fe has made its contribution to our mission program, serving the nonprofit community of the region, hosting partnership groups including Elderhostels, environmental groups, colleges and universities, and doing extensive training in cross-cultural ministries for both seminary students and missionary candidates from several denominations. The Santa Fe location also satisfies those seeking a quiet bed and breakfast close to the Plaza and the art community.

It offers seminars on topics such as spiritual growth, writing, pottery, and studies related to the exceptional summer opera season in partnership with the world-famous Santa Fe Opera Company.
Both sites also offer excellent settings for rest, study, reflection, and sermon preparation (with the 16,000-volume Abiquiu library). In addition, there is access to excellent snow skiing and fishing throughout the region. |
