Ideas for Living Out Christ’s Presence
in the Family*
Christ is with us always. Use the following practices and ideas
within the life of your family as you live out and acknowledge
that presence daily:
- Worship God together. Sit together
in worship. Talk about the service and things you heard, saw,
learned, and noticed. Connect the worship service to your
life in your home.
- Read the Bible together. Become
more familiar with how to locate stories and passages as well
as how the book is arranged. Talk about how the Scriptures
remain relevant to our lives today.
- Pray. Take time to pray as a
family and as individuals. Share daily “highs”
and “lows” with each other and with God.
- Confess and forgive one another.
- Tolerate one another’s failures.
Encourage each other.
- Serve others together. Look
for ways that you can live out your faith by carrying out
acts of service as a family. Live out the words of Jesus from
Luke 10:25–37, the parable of the Good Samaritan.
- Provide hospitality. Offer hospitality
and care to those you know as well as to strangers.
- Listen and talk together about your
lives. Give all family members a chance to talk and
be heard. Get to know each other.
- Work against the things that destroy other
people and God’s creation.
- Work for the things that affirm God’s
purpose.
