  FAQs

Q: What does it mean to say We Believe curriculum is “Reformed”?

A: Part of the answer lies in our understanding of God’s providence. PC(USA)’s denominational curriculum theme for 2006–2007 is “Providence: God’s Creating Word.” Reformed theologians use providence as a way to describe God’s relationship with the world. Presbyterians profess that God maintains an active relationship in the world and with the creatures that inhabit it. God didn’t just create us and move on to other projects. God redeems us, sustains us, and renews us constantly. Through its choice of Scripture, and in other more subtle ways, We Believe reminds us that in all we are and all we do, we belong to God. Dear Colleagues in Ministry:

We read about the Five for Five promotion in ideas! magazine. Ours is a Five for Five congregation, and I believe celebrating that fact may encourage us to be even more supportive of the mission of the broader church. Please advise us how we can be enrolled in the program and receive the promotional materials you publish.

Cordially,
Rev. Daniel C. Graham
First Presbyterian Church, Grundy Center, Iowa

Dear Rev. Graham,

Thank you for your interest in the Five for Five program. We would be pleased to recognize your congregation as a Five for Five church. Congregations are enrolled by means of a phone call, letter, or e-mail indicating that you receive the four churchwide Special Offerings and give to presbytery, synod, and General Assembly basic mission support. Simply let us know how many brochures you would like to receive, and we will send your church a packet containing a certificate of appreciation, posters, brochures, and stickers all celebrating your support of Presbyterian mission. Thank you for the faithful ways that you support the ministry of God’s love around the corner and around the globe!

Grace and peace,

Dear ideas! Staff:

I appreciate ideas! For Church Leaders very much. Your worship resources for stewardship by Fane Downs were helpful. Mary Ann McKibben Dana’s worship resources using our confessions proved instructive for our members. Also, I have used stories on the United Nations, Reformation Day, stewardship lifestyle, and continuing study ideas for officers in our newsletter. For me short, punchy articles are best. Keep up the good work.
