Introducing Year Three of We Believe Workshop

We’ve been working hard on We Believe Workshop, and there are ten new units for 2007–2008.

Joseph: God’s Dreamer (Genesis 37–45:8)
Joseph is his father’s favorite son. This makes his brothers angry, and they make plans to get rid of him. God makes it possible for Joseph to tell people what their dreams mean. Joseph does this for Pharaoh and Pharaoh gives Joseph important work. Joseph’s brothers come to Egypt in search of food and find Joseph, who forgives them. Through this act of reconciliation, God provides for God’s people during a time of famine.

Moses: Baby in a Basket (Exodus 1:15–2:10)
God’s caring hand acts through the caring hands of people in Moses’ life — the midwives, Moses’ mother and sister, and Pharaoh’s daughter.

Jonah (Jonah 1–4)
Jonah is a reluctant prophet of God’s forgiving love for all.

Advent: Mary’s Song (Luke 1:26–56)
Mary responds to God’s gift with words of joy and praise.

Boy Jesus at the Temple (Luke 2:41–52)
Jesus goes to the Temple to listen and learn.

Jesus Teaches Us to Pray (Matthew 6:5–15)
Jesus teaches his followers the words to use when they pray.

The Great Dinner (Luke 14:15–24)
When Jesus invites us to follow him, we are to say “Yes!”

Peter: Three Times,  “No!” and Three Times, “Yes!” (Luke 22:54–62 and John 21:15–19)
Despite Jesus’ warning, Peter, when challenged, denies knowing Jesus. Later, Peter is able to affirm his love of Jesus three times.

Philip and the Ethiopian (Acts 8:26–40)
Philip proclaims the good news about Jesus to an Ethiopian who believes and asks to be baptized.

Lydia (Acts 16:11–15, 40)
Lydia becomes a follower of Christ through Paul’s ministry. She offers the ministry of hospitality to Paul and his companion.
