National Presbyterian Men’s Ministry
To equip and train all men to pursue the will of Jesus Christ
through discipleship, mission outreach and leadership education
We have a new name and mission statement, recommended by the Special Task
Force and approved by the Council at the 2007 National Presbyterian Men’s Ministry
(NPMM) conference in Louisville.
The president of Presbyterian Men, Dr. Kyung-il Ghymn asks, “What’s the main ‘will’
of Jesus Christ?” And he answers, “Go and make disciples of all nations and spread
the gospel. From the beginning Jesus was talking about world mission and
commending us to globalize God’s people.”
The three elements that characterize the work of NPMM — discipleship, mission
outreach and leadership education — are not new to the church. Many men in
congregations everywhere are participating in these activities, in groups and as
individuals. We need to know about these things and publicize them to encourage
more men to be more active in their churches.
Two more ways to encourage men in your church are “Man of the Year” recognition
and “Men of the Church Sunday” (June 15, 2008). On the NPMM Web site you’ll find
information about both programs.
If you want to keep up with some new and renewed thinking about men and their
place in the church, visit David Murrow’s Web site. David
was one of the keynote speakers at the 2007 Presbyterian Men’s Conference.
Look for us at the 2008 General Assembly meeting in San Jose, California, in June.
We’d love to hear what you’re doing and how we can help.
Wherever and whenever men are engaged in the work of the church we want to
remember that we are “Men in Mission, Together!” |
