What
happens when you mix teenagers with great music, vibrant worship,
loving adults (willing to spend a WEEK with these great teenagers
on their own time and in many cases without air conditioning or
good coffee), colorful sets, interactive experiences and exhibits,
solid biblical study and . . . very little sleep. You have wonder!
You have youth ministry, you have the Presbyterian Youth Triennium,
the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)s largest gathering! |

Every
three years the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Cumberland Presbyterian
Church, and Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America gather almost
seven thousand young people together for worship, Bible study,
recreation, and global awareness for the Presbyterian Youth Triennium
(PYT). The first Triennium was held in 1980 at Indiana University
in Bloomington, and the theme was Journey of Hope, Christ
among Us. Since the second Triennium in 1983 the event has
been held at Purdue University. The 2004 PYT will be held
July 2025, 2004, on the campus of Purdue University
in West Lafayette, Indiana. |

This
years theme is No Longer Strangers from Eph.
2:1419. The theme and the accompanying texts explore what
it means to live as Christs followers in a world that is
not always suited to following Christs objectives. As the
world continues to watch the events of war, destruction, postwar
reconstruction and struggle, challenges for peace and restoration,
young people ask thoughtful and direct questions about what it
means to witness, to be peacemakers, to follow the way and will
of Jesus Christ in a faithful and compassionate manner. The 2004
Triennium will explore these and many more questions of relevant
Christian journey. |

A design
team of twenty youth and adults that will spend over two years
preparing for the 2004 PYT prayerfully selected this years
theme. The theme will be presented daily in worship, community
building, small group study of Scripture and prayer, individual
prayer and contemplation, General Assembly entity exhibits and
booths, and many more wonderful opportunities. The design team
is joined by a network of support staff, volunteers, platform
leadership, and pastoral care workers. The design team represents
the three partner denominations as well as youth and adults from
all geographic areas and racial ethnic backgrounds. |

currently being appointed and recruited. For more information
about becoming a presbytery registrar, you may contact your executive
presbyter or national Triennium registrar, Kenneth Slifer (kslifer@ctr.pcusa.org). |
