Mrs. Roberts has worked in
education as an elementary school teacher, educational testing
specialist, and counselor. She has coordinated degree programs
for the Naval Education campus of Pepperdine University, and
has also been a social worker in Ohio and New Jersey.
Mrs. Roberts is an elder in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.),
and she currently is a member of the First Presbyterian Church
of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. She is a former trustee of Columbia
Theological Seminary, and was a board member of the Presbyterian
Investment and Loan Program. Mrs. Roberts also served on the
Mississippi Permanent Judicial Commission and on the Self-Development
of People (SDOP) Committee as vice-chair.
Mrs. Roberts also has extensive community experience. She was
chairman of the Federal Reserve Board New Orleans branch, a
director of Mississippi Power, and president of the Mississippi
Coast Coliseum Commission, active in the National Association
for the Advancement of Colored People. Mrs. Roberts has been
the National Council of Negro Women, and numerous other Gulf
Coast community organizations. Currently, Mrs. Roberts is a
Genesis Foundation board member, and a member of the Community
Advisory Board of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. |
