Relief Effort Photo Gallery

This photo directory has been provided for congregations, presbyteries, synods and others who may wish to use photos taken during the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. We ask that you credit the photographer (Evan Silverstein unless otherwise noted) and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) when you use any of these photos.

To download photos, follow these steps:

  • Click on thumbnail image to view full-size photo.
  • Point the mouse arrow on the picture.
  • For PC users, right-click on the picture so that a menu appears. For Mac users, press and hold down the mouse button to see the menu.
  • Choose "Save picture as" if you're using Internet Explorer, or choose "Save image as" if you're using Netscape Navigator.
  • Select the name that's in the "File name" box, and type in the name you would like to give the picture.
  • Click the down arrow to the right of the "Save as type" box.
  • Pick a format to save the picture as.
  • Click twice on the folder you want to save it in.
  • Click the button to the right of the "File name" box. Depending on your browser, it's either called Save or Open.

  tents   Presbyterian Disaster Assistance turned property at Gautier Presbyterian Church in Gautier, MS, into a camp for staging disaster relief assistance. Up to 150 volunteers at a time from across the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) will inhabit the camp’s 30 tents on a rotating basis.

These partners are Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA), the relief arm of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.); Action by Churches Together International (ACT), a Geneva-based international alliance of churches and relief agencies, of which PDA is a member; Norwegian Church Aid, an independent, ecumenical development aid organization, which is part of the ACT network; and First Presbyterian Church of Midland, TX, which provided start-up costs for the volunteer camp.
