2007 Team Profile
The Rev. Marilou Rezane is conference minister (similar
to a presbytery executive) in the South Cotabato–Sarangani District of
the United Church of Christ in the Philippines. This is the united church
that was formed by all of the Protestant denominations that grew out of foreign
mission work there, including the Presbyterian mission, which began in 1899.
Rezane was ordained in 1995, but has been serving in pastoral ministry in the
churches of the UCCP for 20 years. She has been very active in Christian-Muslim
relations and in relation to human rights concerns in the Philippines.
Hadja Kumala Mujalla is a Muslim coconut farmer and
activist in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte. She has worked as a contract worker
in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Ms.
Mujalla has been involved in a number of efforts to bring accountability and
to lessen the environmental and social problems associated with mining operations
in her region. She is actively building bridges between Muslims and Christians
to enable cooperative work for human rights and peace. |
