The Structure and Operation of Presbyterian Men
The National Council of Presbyterian Men, Inc. (NCPM, Inc.)
The general policy, organization, programs and financing of Presbyterian Men are determined by the National Council of Presbyterian Men (NCPM, Inc.). The NCPM, Inc. is composed of representatives from each Presbytery and Synod in the PC(USA) and the ten members of the Executive Board of NCPM, Inc.
The Executive Board
The Executive Board members are responsible for developing an on-going program to build faith, spirituality and leadership in men in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and for overseeing and carrying out the programs and directives of the National Council.
The President serves as the national spokesman for Presbyterian Men, and presides at all formal meetings of the board.
The Vice-President works with local men and the other Executive Board members to:
- plan the meetings of the National Council
- plan the annual event of the organization
- develop international and national mission projects in cooperation with other Presbyterian entities
- maintain and build the membership of the organization
The Secretary keeps records of the Executive Board meetings, NCPM meetings and handles correspondence at the request of the president.
The Treasurer maintains financial records and brings reports to the Executive Board and to the NCPM, Inc.
At-large Representatives ensure racial, cultural and age diversity on the Executive Board and in the programs of the National Council of Presbyterian Men, Inc. There are four at-large representatives:
- Black Men’s Representative
- Hispanic Men’s Representative
- Korean Men’s Representative
- Young Men’s Representative
The Coordinator for Church Leader Support provides denominational staff support from the offices of the General Assembly Council. The coordinator or designee serves as a liaison to the elected officers in the design and promotion of the programs.
Interpretation and Communication
We use three methods to keep members up to date with events, programs and news pertinent to our Presbyterian Men:
- The Presbyterian Men’s Web site is our online directory of resources, events, elected leadership, newsletters, articles of interest and links to related groups and resources. Through the Web site you can order resources, download forms, contact our officers and read reports and articles related to ministries with men.
- PMIA - "Presbyterian Men in Action" is a free newsletter prepared and available online at least twice a year. It contains information about the national organization, regional events and resource helpful to men’s ministries.
- Press releases are sent to synods and presbyteries to be included in newsletters, mailings and electronic messages.
