As of September 24, 2009, we have 220 long-term missionaries serving in 52 countries. Of these, 195 are mission co-workers, 24 are long-term volunteers, and 1 is an Amity teachers in China. All have committed to a two-year term of service or longer.
In addition, 68 Young Adult Volunteers are under appointment, 30 of them in international sites and 38 in national sites.
World Mission Challenge
From September 25 to October 19, forty-five PC(USA) mission personnel will be sent all over the country to speak. This year, the event is called World Mission Challenge, and more than 152 of PC(USA)'s 173 presbyteries have signed up to participate.
The 2009 Presbyterian World Mission Giving Opportunities is available online. This takes the place of the DMS (Directed Mission Support) catalogue. The 2010 version of this catalogue will be available in late September 2009. It will be sent to all PC(USA) churches.
