August 2002
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Jesus Christ,
Greetings from Korea ! I am writing to let you know that I will
be in the United States on "interpretation assignment"
from April 15 to May 31, 2003, and from July 15 to August 31,
2003.
Ive been very grateful for your support and your prayers
during the last three years, and I have enjoyed getting to know
some of you through e-mail and letters. I would love to come for
a visit with my husband if you would consider inviting me.
If you are interested in allowing us to share with you, would
you please let me know as soon as possible? Scheduling is likely
to be difficult, and Id like to get early start. The best
way to contact me is by e-mail.
You can reach me in Seoul, Korea, until April 10, 2003. After
April 15, I will be at my home in New Jersey.
My home address in New Jersey is:
7 Harrison Rd
Kinnelon, NJ 07405
(973) 492-9220
My e-mail address in the U.S. will continue to be: shbpcusa@hanmail.net
A note on expenses
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) pays my salary while I am on
interpretation assignment. Therefore, I do not expect any kind
of an honorarium, but my travel expenses are not taken care of.
Its best to be straightforward about this. When I arrive
at the church I will give you a letter with my travel cost. If
I drive, itll be 36.5 cents a mile.
If I fly or drive a car Ill divide the cost among the churches
I am visiting in the area. If you would like to invite me but
cant afford to pay for my travel, thats okay too,
but please let me know ahead of time. Some churches give me more
than my travel expenses and I can save that for such occasions.
Please note that I cant accept cash. I hope this is all
acceptable.
At the risk of extending an already lengthy letter, I would like
to say what an honor and a privilege it has been for me to serve
the Women Ministers Association in Korea, where my years have
been immeasurably enriched by the kindness and the depth of the
faith life of Korean Christians. Being able to share some of their
stories gives me a sense of completing a circle: We get to report
back to the church that commissioned me and share something of
the wonders that God has done.
Thank you very much for all that you have done for me. I cant
express to you how much I appreciate your letters, your prayers,
and your financial support.
With you in Christ,
Sook Hee Bae
