Dear Friends and Loved Ones,
While it is still Christmas for those of you in the Western hemisphere,
it is already Boxing Day (the English tradition, the day after
Christmas) here in Kenya. As we anticipate national elections
tomorrow, with the first real governmental transition since independence
in 1963 (no matter which presidential candidate wins), we are
keenly praying for peace, hope, justice, and new beginnings in
the year ahead.
The kids and I are staying close to home this year, here in Nairobi,
to watch and pray, and to enjoy some quiet time just around the
house and with neighbors close by. We are enjoying having Steven
with us, a 16-year-old who usually stays with us during school
holidays, plus various visitors who are coming by to have a cup
of tea, play a game or two, share stories, songs, visit and join
together for prayers. Other than that, we will watch the election
events from the safety of our living room, and enjoy some down
time.
Joy and holiday blessings to each and every one of you, and may
the New Year bring new hope, new adventures, and deepening friendships,
With love and gratitude for you all,
Marta
